Year 2011 seems much more as recovery period than profit-making season. According to Jan 2012 report by Cryogas International, a reputed magazine covering Industrial gases in-depth found global recovery in 2011 has been weaker than in 2010. Airgas chief had already considered year 2012 as the most important year for the industry as per prospective growth rate.

After Praxair & Airgas results, Air Liquide said demands appear from emerging countries after slowed growth in the fourth quarter due to weak steel & electronics markets. Continue reading

BOC Australia Signs New ASU Construction in New Zealand

Australian continent leading Industrial Gases & Engineering Company, BOC Australia & New Zealand has bagged a long term order from New Zealand Steel Company yesterday.

Under the mutual agreement, both stand a long term supply of gases to ongoing Iron & Steel operations at Glenbrook in New Zealand. According to BOC sources, company will invest around $70 million (around EUR 56 million) in new air separation plant and associated equipment to supply products to the New Zealand air gases market. Air Products Acquires German Firm ROVI Cosemtics

A month before Air Products sold its healthcare unit to Linde Group, a Germany based company. Yesterday only it announced to acquire Schluchtern, Germany-based ROVI Cosmetics International GmbH.

Company is an established player in the development of cosmetic actives and delivery systems for the European personal care industry. Air Liquide Went to Start New ASU in Geismar US

After the acquisition cum expansion in Georgia, now Air Liquide has announced another start-up of new ASU. This new ASU will be constructed by Air Liquide Large Industries U.S LP at its facility in Geismar, La. According to earlier comments came from the company, the purpose to start new ASU just for the increase in the supply of Nitrogen, oxygen & argon among large range of customers in nearby industries, varying from refineries, natural gas, chemicals, and metals. Sanjiv Lamba is BOC India New Chairman

Linde AG Germany has appointed Mr. Sanjiv Lamba as new chairman of BOC India Ltd, a subsidiary company of Linde Group. Mr. Lamba is already the member of Linde AG executive board & has been with The Linde Group since 1989, will replace Chairman S. M. Datta, who is retiring.

Along with this announcement, company reported a more than two-fold jump in net profit of Rs. 50.6 crore (202,613 USD). Figures came after the end of fourth-quarter ended on 31st Dec 2011.

Air Liquide Signs Long Term Contract with South African Steel Firm

Industrial Gases major Air Liquide group is going to construct new Air Separation Unit (ASU) in South Africa. According to reports in media yesterday, Air Liquide signed a 20-year contract with JSE-listed steel and vanadium producer Evraz Highveld.

Surprisingly deal went off after the cancellation of JSE listed industrial gases & welding products supplier Afrox. Because of Afrox the Linde group company, steel firm had borne lots of production issues.

Praxair America Awards Distribution Contract to Navteq Collaboration

North American Industrial Gas major, Praxair awarded fleet transportation & distribution contract to Navteq. Navteq won the contract in collaboration with Planifi-K is already providing services for Fleet Transportation & distribution in the region.

Planifi-K is an Argentina-based consulting firm specializing in logistical planning and an official strategic partner of Roadnet Technologies (ex- UPS Logistics Technologies). Praxair is going to use Navteq map data of Argentina and Roadnet Technologies software to optimize their fleet transportation and distribution services. Continue reading
