Linde AG Engineering division announced to provide Turn-Key Geothermal power plant to GEOenergie Kirchweidach GmbH at Kichweidach in Germany. Under this project, Linde has signed the project deal with Cryostar to provide technology services to the company. Linde would be utilizing Cryostar SAS Supplied Organic Rankine Cycle to produce almost 38,640 MWh of electrical energy from geothermal water.
Once plant is ready, geothermal unit is capable to supply power to 12,888 homes across the region. As per company a source, plant is ready to commission by 2013 whereas civil works are supposed to be started by summer 2012.
Linde Engineering is going to work for the engineering, procurement, civil and installation works and commissioning carried out in relation to the plant. Geothermal Plants is estimated at several hundred million euros in Germany. Cryostar SAS will supply the ORC technology and the key component – the expansion turbine.
Jörg Linsenmaier, Managing Director of Linde Engineering Dresden GmbH, commented, “Geothermal power plants represent a new product on the market for innovative plants generating clean energy. With this project, Linde is opening up a new and forward-looking business field.” He further added, “The market volume for geothermal plants is estimated at several hundred million euros in Germany alone.”
