SAIL Rourkela opened new units at Rourkela Steel Plant including an Air Separation Unit (ASU). Chairman of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) C S Verma yesterday inaugurated some new units at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) including an Air Separation Unit (ASU) of tonnage Oxygen plant. The new unit will help RSP to substantially increase the productivity of the plant as capacity. This is ASU III of Tonnage Oxygen Plant – II has total production capacity of 700TPD of Oxygen.
According to RSP sources, the new ASU unit opens at the time when company really needs an opportune time as the enriched oxygen generated in the oxygen plant would help the Blast Furnaces to achieve the enhanced output of 7000 Tonnes of Hot Metal per day. ASU is in operation would facilitate simultaneous blowing of the converters in SMS-II which will in turn recover the effectiveness of the steel melting shop.
Apart from new unit inauguration SAIL Rourkela has also taken modernization units job like New OBBP, New Sinter Complex, Blast Furnace-V and Coke Ovens Battery-VI. Linde BOC provides oxygen & other gases to RSP project.
